Found Words/Written Words – Joni Mitchell

“Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone”

Just spent the last 24 hours with no power due to the “snowpocalypse 2010” that has engulfed the Mid-Atlantic Region.  The first few hours were boring.  I’ve grown accustomed to my high speed internet and FiOs Cable.  Then the daylight started to dim and going to the restroom became mildly amusing, if not adventurous.  Around hour 10 one realizes that no electricity means no oven.  And “HoHo”s, and tortilla chips lose their luster.  Around hour 11 one realizes that no electricity means no refrigerator, at which point the “save the beer!” mantra kicks in, which is fun because you have the worlds largest icebox on your back deck.  Seriously, throwing a few long necks into 3 feet of snow like they’re darts is kind of fun, especially 30 minutes later when you’re enjoying an ice cold miller light.  But around hour 12 you realize that “no electricity”=no heat.  As my father, who’s admittedly reserved when it comes to language, put it, “This shit ain’t fun.”
